Habits
These ticks may attatch themselves anywhere on a dog. The adults typically attatch on the ears and between the toes, but larvae and nymphs typically attatch on the back.
Habitat
Typically does not do well outdoors in the woods. They prefer warm, dry conditions where dogs live. They do not travel far after engorgement and dropping off the host.
Threats
Ticks can spread Lyme Disease.
Prevention:
The homeowner/occupant of the infested home and/or the owner of the infested home must thoroughly clean the home and remove all debris to remove/eliminate as many ticks as possible. Pet bedding and resting areas should receive careful attention.
